NarcÃs Comadira (Girona, 1942) is a poet and painter who has also worked in other artistic disciplines and areas related with art, for example theatre, translating, journalistic writing, literary criticism, history of art, architecture and advertising. In its progressive metric and linguistic rigour, his poetry inclines towards classical forms, contemplation, reflection and irony. He is an appreciative student of the poetry of Gabriel Ferrater, Josep Carner and J. V. Foix. Notable in his translating work, in particular from Italian and English, are his anthologies of Italian poets and works by G. Bassani, E. de Filippo, L. Pirandello, W. H. Auden and R. Rowell. In 1991 he wrote his first play. He has received prestigious awards from the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia, the City of Barcelona and the National Critics' Prize inter alia. He is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
