Montserrat Castillo

Montserrat Castillo (Barcelona, 1951) is a historian and art critic. She has a degree in Geography and History from the University of Barcelona (1977) and a doctorate in History of Art (1993).

As an art, film and illustration critic, she has written for several periodical publications, has participated in numerous conferences and public presentations, while also being a jury member in some twenty competitions. She has also organised exhibitions on illustration and illustrated books.

Notable among her published works are Junceda (on the illustrator Joan Junceda – 1988), Taller Obert Grau-Garriga (Grau-Garriga Open Workshop, 1988), Junceda il·lustrador. El tresor de l'illa (Junceda Illustrator. The Island's Treasure, 1990), Grans il·lustradors catalans (Great Catalan Illustrators, 1997), which was awarded the 1998 Pier Paolo Vergerio Critics' Prize, Lola Anglada o la creació del paradís propi (2000), and Lola Anglada i l'ideal del llibre (Lola Anglada and the Ideal of the Book) 2006 Aurora Díaz Plaja Prize.

She is a member of AELC (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
