Núria Añó was born in Lleida on 10 February 1973 and lived in Mollerussa until she was nineteen. She studied Catalan Philology and German Language and presently lives in Lleida where she works as both writer and translator.

She published her first story at the age of seventeen, after which some of her stories have been published in books such as Dones i literatura a Lleida (Women and Literature in Lleida, Ajuntament de Lleida, 1997); VIII Concurs de Narrativa Literària Mercè Rodoreda (Eighth Mercè Rodoreda Fiction Competition, Ràdio Molins de Rei, 1997); Estrenes (Debuts, Department of Catalan Philology and Communication at the University of Lleida, 2005) and Escata de drac (Dragon Scale, Ajuntament de Lleida, 2012).

She was awarded the 18th City of Almenara Joan Fuster Prize for Fiction, and her story 2066. Comença l'etapa de correcció (2066. Beginning the age of correction, 2006) was published in the European review Cafè Babel and translated into Spanish, French, English, Italian, German and Polish.

Her novel Els nens de l'Elisa (Elisa's Children) was third among the finalists for the 24th Ramon Llull Prize for Catalan Literature and was published by Editorial Òmicron in 2006. On the same Editorial she has published the novels L'escriptora morta (The Dead Writer, 2008) and Núvols baixos (Low Clouds, 2009). La mirada del fill (The son's Gaze, Abadia Ed., 2012) is her most recent novel.

She is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
