Joan Carreras i Goicoechea (Barcelona, 1962) is a writer, scriptwriter, and journalist.

With a degree in Humanities from the Open University of Catalonia, he writes for media publications including Avui, El Temps, El Periódico de Catalunya, and Diari de Barcelona. He has worked at the Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media as scriptwriter for various radio and television programmes, as news editor and executive, and also heading the management and coordination of several departments. He is a lecturer at the Blanquerna School of Communications and International Relations at the Ramon Llull University.

He made his debut as a writer with the publication of the short story collections Les oques van descalces (1990) and La bassa del gripau (1993). In 1998 he published his first novel, La gran nevada, which was followed by Qui va matar el Floquet de Neu (2003), L’home d'origami (2009), Carretera secundària (2012), Cafè Barcelona (winner of the 2013 City of Barcelona Prize), L’àguila Negra (winner of the 2015 Sant Jordi Prize for the Novel), La dona del Cadillac (2017), Torno a casa (2021), and Estaria molt bé (2026).

He is a member of the Associació Escriptors en Llengua Catalana Association of Catalan Language Writers – AELC).
