Josep Enric Dallerès

English

Josep Enric Dallerès was born in Vilafranca del Penedès on 14 February (St. Valentine’s Day) 1949 and spent his early years in the village of Pontons in the Alt Penedès region where his father was a baker. He has always said that it was in the course of a number of excursions, led by the local priest, father Joan, and followed up by story-telling sessions, that he first felt the urge to write. At the end of the 1950s, his parents, both of them from Andorra, decided to take the family back to their birthplace.

It is in Andorra that he has published most of his fictional and poetic work, starting with the first collection of poems titled 33 poemes (33 Poems, 1974), which has a Prologue by Miquel Martí i Pol. It is in Andorra, too, that he has worked as a teacher and held several public positions.

He is an honorary member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
