Lleonard del Rio Campmajó (Igualada, 1942), a journalist, writer and rhapsodist, he published his first book of poems, Versos de badana (Edicions de la Vorera) in 1999. This was followed by Aigua vermella (Editorial 7 i Mig, 2002), Gresol de focs (Pagès Editors, 2008), Antologia de la poesia igualadina: Des del segle XV al segle XXI (Ajuntament d’Igualada, 2016), Pessigolles (Parnass Edicions, 2019), and Plugim d’estels (Parnass Edicions, 2024), among others. He is also author of the play L’hostal de la Gavina (Centre d’Estudis Comarcals d’Igualada, 2001), and the short story collections Nits d’insomni. 50 relats breus amb sabor igualadí (Parnass Edicions, 2023) and Nits d’insomni, 2. 50 relats breus amb sabor igualadí (Parnass Edicions, 2025).
As a journalist, he is director, scriptwriter, and presenter of radio programmes including “Carrer de Barcelona”, “Enquesta en FM”, “Poesia ets tu”, and “El perfil de la notícia” broadcast by Ràdio Joventut d’Igualada. He was also director and presenter of the Televisió Igualada programmes “Debat” (1993-1994) and “Gent de Casa” (1994-1996), and has been a correspondent for several newspapers and radio stations.
In 2022, he was awarded the City of Igualada Prize of Honour.
He is an honorary member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
