Glòria Sabaté

Glòria Sabaté (Barcelona) is a writer, PhD in Philology, and lecturer in the Faculty of Philology and Communication at the University of Barcelona. A specialist in medieval literature and culture, she has also studied Arab Philology and has master’s degrees in History of Science (UAB-UB) and Medieval Cultures (UB).

She combines teaching, research, and literary creation. In the academic domain, she has published several studies, notable amongst which is Més enllà de la cort: els lectors potencials del Curial e Güelfa (Universitat d’Alacant, 2019).

As author of short stories, in 2007 she received First Prize in the Joana Raspall Short Stories for Women Awards with her story “Na Brianda”. Her first novel, La filla de Lilith (Ediciones B, 2016; Rosa dels Vents, 2025), was the beginning of a career as a fiction writer which was consolidated with El vel de la deessa (Columna, 2020), winner of the Nèstor Luján Prize for the Historical Novel. She subsequently published, Mort al Palau (Rosa dels Vents, 2025), a tribute to Barcelona’s love for Sherlock Holmes in the early twentieth century which is set in the city’s Palau Güell. With Núria Pradas she has also coauthored the novels for young people La marca del lleó and El secret de la reina (Fanbooks, 2020 and 2026).

Moreover, she is author of the illustrated albums Bruixes and Fades (Bindi Books, 2021 and 2023), and the essay Medicina en femení (Cossetània, 2023). She has recently published La Catalunya embruixada (Cossetània, 2026), a book that urges a fresh look at the stories of women who were unjustly persecuted and executed during Catalonia’s witch hunts.

She regularly participates in literary outreach activities including book launches, reading clubs, and literary routes and festivals

She is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers – AELC).
