Catalina F. Isern i Fiol

English

Catalina F. Isern i Fiol was born in Consell (Mallorca) in 1963, daughter of Pep (footballer) and Maria Magdalena (housewife) and spent her childhood there, after which she moved to Palma to study until she was twenty-one years old.

She presently lives in Algaida, with brief stays every three months in Barcelona, a city she confesses she loves much more than her own. This was the city that welcomed her when she was very young, opening all its doors to her.

Her working career, after leaving her studies unfinished, began in the administration and management of various businesses until she founded her own company at the tender age of twenty-one. However, since she was a small child, literature has been her vocation and passion and it was for family reasons that she studied Administration and Agriculture. In 1985, at the age of twenty-two, she published her first book I les flors quan naixeran? (And When Will the Flowers Be Born?). This was runner-up for the "Es Faç" Prize for Literature in 1984. Since then, she has been in no doubt that this is the road she wishes to follow. She has written novels and poetic prose although her forte is poetry. She is a founder-member of the Latin American literary review Catarsis.

She is a member of AELC (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
