Antoni Lloret

Antoni Lloret (Barcelona, 1935). Phisicist and writer. Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Barcelona in 1963 and at the Univerity of Paris in 1964. He has been Research Director at the Centre de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Director of the Groupement Euroregional des Systémes Photovoltaóques (GESP), and Researcher at the École Polytechnique de Palaiseau (France). He has also worked at the Junta de Energía Nuclear in Madrid, the CEN in Strasbourg and at the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva. From 1992 he has been a member of the "Institut d'Estudis Catalans".

He is the author of several popular science books, aimed at children, teenagers and adults, these include Física pop (1977), Micmac (1993), in collaboration with Jaume Fuster, El Cafè Metropol (1999), awarded the "Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca-Literatura Científica" in 1999, and Una teulada fotovoltaica a l'Ajuntament (2001) translated into English as Photovoltaic roofs on Barcelona city hall. His work and iniciatives to recover and favour the use and creation of scientific terminology in Catalan are also relevant, especially after the Diccionari de la Ciència i la Tecnologia Nuclers (1979).

In 2008 he was honored the "Creu de Sant Jordi de la Generalitat de Catalunya".
