Víctor Sunyol i Costa (Vic, 1955) is a writer, teacher, and editor.
His poetry is outstanding in its exploration of the limits of language and its quest for an—always impossible—possibility of speech. His first collection appeared at the end of the 1970s, and he has now published more than twenty titles, including Ni amb ara prou (1984), Esculls al dic sec de la memòria (1991), Moment (Poesia 1982-1985) (1995), Quadern de bosc (1999), Stabat (2003), Des d’ara (2005), Ques (2013), and Des de quin on? (Antologia 1976-2017) (2019).
He has been working with Antoni Clapés in the publishing house Café Central since it was founded, and a considerable part of his work has been published there, with titles like Quadern de port (1999), I si no neva? (Aèria) (2004), NO ON (rèquiem) (2008) and de ser només (2014).
He has also published several works of fiction, among them Descripció de cec (1990) and Birnam (2014), as well as fictional essays including the titles El buit i la novel·la: cinquanta assajos de buidatge novel·lístic (1994) and Cap a Tirèsies, una aproximació a Eva Aguilar (1997). Moreover, he writes for such periodical publications as El 9 Nou and cultural magazines (Reduccions and Transversal), he frequently works with musicians and visual artists, and he has curated cycles of visual art exhibitions at H—the Vic Association for Contemporary Art—and also at Bòlit, the Girona Contemporary Art Centre.
He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan language Writers – AELC).
