Josep Lluís Benet Vidal (Valencia, 1944), a psychologist, teacher, plastic artist, and writer, has a degree in Psychology and, for years, has combined his work as a clinical psychologist with his passion for painting and literature. An expert on contemporary Russian fiction, he has taught this subject in university extension classes for the elderly at the University of Barcelona.
His books in Catalan include Quan de senyor en dèiem Milord (Ediconex, 2017), L’insòlit cas de Dmitri i Nicolette (Ediconex, 2018), and El darrer brot d’Alzina (Ediconex, 2022). The latter work, part of the tetralogy titled La Casa de l’Alzina,was a finalist for the 2022 City of Tarragona Prize. Among his titles in Spanish are Sueños en Manhattan (ECU, 2009) and Forgotten, el niño robado de la Casa de la Encina (Ediconex, 2016).
He is also a cultural animator, an organiser of the CONEX (Fount of Knowledge and Experience) Sant Jordi (Saint George) awards, and of the Creative Writing Workshop of the Espai de Lletres, which provides space for authors from Catalonia and elsewhere to speak in their own voices.
He is an honorary member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
