Rafel Crespí Ramis (Pòrtol, 1961-2020) was a philologist and teacher who, after graduating in Catalan Philology from the University of Barcelona in 1984, began to work as a Catalan Language and Literature teacher at the Berenguer d’Anoia secondary school in Inca, Mallorca, where he remained for almost all of his professional career.

He is well known for his short stories, with a large number published separately as well as in three collections: Experiència preliminar (1980), Personatjes (sic) (1994), and Silencis (1995). He also published two novels, ¿Per què has vingut? (1996) and La música de les constel·lacions (2005).

He was active in local politics and was a Socialist Party of Mallorca councillor in Marratxí from 1995 to 1999. From 1999 to 2003 he worked as an education advisor for the Department of Education and Culture of the Balearic Islands Government. He also wrote for magazines and periodical publications including Pòrtula, Lluc, El Mirall, and Diari de Balears.

He was a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
