Andreu Sotorra


Andreu Sotorra (Reus, Baix Camp, 1950) presently resides and works in Barcelona. He has published twenty-five books in Catalan –mostly novels and short story collections– all of them written in the La Vinyeta de Duesaigües refuge (Baix Camp). Some of them are constantly being reissued. He has been awarded some twenty prizes for his short stories and novels as well as the Premi Trajectòria Award for the entirety of his work as a literary critic. He has been translated into Basque, Galician, Italian and Spanish. He is a pioneer in online publication of novels in Catalan and some of his own works have also been published as e-books. He is a cultural journalist for the written press and radio, specialising in theatre and literary criticism. Furthermore, as part of the city’s network of reading promotion programmes, he participates as an author in reading discussion groups at primary and secondary schools and public libraries.

He is a member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers, AELC).
