English

Àngel Burgas (Figueres, 1965), a fiction writer specialising in children’s literature, he was born in Figueres in 1965. He has a degree in Fine Arts and combines painting with literature and teaching. His books alternate between works for young people and literature for adult readers, and he has frequently found, in his writing, a way to criticise the world around him when addressing such themes as diversity, identity, and justice. Sometimes, there is also a touch of humour in his work. Notable among his novels for children are Petites històries del Globus, El club de la cistella, Segon trimestre, Noel et busca, and Els contes de Lesbos, while the best known of his books for adults are Adéu and La fi d’Europa.

He is a member of the editorial board of the children’s and young people’s literary magazine Faristol and, with the illustrator Ignasi Blanch, is head of the illustrated book section of the cultural supplement of the newspaper Avui.

He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
