Anna Genover i Mas

English

Anna Genover i Mas (Girona) is a writer and screenwriter. She has a BA Honours in Journalism by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and a postgrade in Cinematography by the New York University as well as a postgrade in Screenwriting by the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

When she was a little girl, her uncle used to call her "Tribulete" (a comic character that represents a journalist that gets in all kinds of troubles) When she finished her studies in Barcelona, she began working as a freelance journalist for the TVE-Catalunya and as a photographer for several magazines. Thanks to two scholarships, she flew to the United States to study cinema and it was precisely at UCLA where she realized that, through writing, she could become anything she would like to be and therefore do whatever she would like to do.

Party by chance but also because of her being so eager to learn, Anna Genover eventually came across children's literature. Although an unexpected encounter, she's been utterly devoted to the genre ever since. The reason for it, she says, is because "it makes me a fearless and younger writer". She also states that, out of all the adventures a person can go through in life, writing for people who theoretically still don’t have a passport of their own, is the adventure that entails most responsibility.

She is a member of Association of Catalan Language Writers (AELC).
