Jaume Mestres i Buscà (Sant Boi de Llobregat, Baix Llobregat, 24 May 1950). At the age of twenty-three he opened the La Plana bookshop in carrer de la Plana Sant Boi de Llobregat. The bookshop was also the venue for exhibitions of painting, graphic art and ceramics, as well as lectures, recitals of Catalan Cançó, Catalan language and guitar classes, book launches and film forum sessions. From 1986 to 1988 he left the bookshop to travel around Southeast Asia. On his return, he once again worked in La Plana until 1995 when he left it completely. Since then he has been travelling, writing and taking photographs.

He has participated in several travel programmes on Catalunya Ràdio and from the season of 1997/1998 until that of 2004/2005 he ran the weekly section "El viatger de la Gran Anaconda en marxa" (The Great Anaconda Traveller on the Way) in the Catalunya Ràdio programme "Els Viatgers de la Gran Anaconda" (Great Anaconda Travellers). He has published the books Cròniques de l'Anaconda. Índia, Pakistan, Indonèsia, Filipines, Cambodja, Tailàndia, Laos (Anaconda Chronicles: India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, 2002), Cròniques de l'Anaconda. Mèxic, Belize, Guatemala (Anaconda Chronicles: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, 2003), Cròniques de l'Anaconda. Marroc i Egipte (Anaconda Chronicles: Morocco and Egypt, 2004) and Vietnam. Cròniques de l'Anaconda (Vietnam: Anaconda Chronicles, 2007).

He is a member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
