David Nel·lo (Barcelona, 1959), son of actor and theatre director Francesc Nel·lo i German, and grandson of illustrator and set designer Francesc Nel·lo i Ventosa, is a translator and writer of books for children, young people and adults. Some of his books, especially for children, have been translated into as many as thirteen languages as well as receiving awards.

Among the best-known titles of his children’s books are L’Albert i els menjabrossa (1995 Vaixell de Vapor 1995 Prize), Ludwig i Frank (2011 Josep Maria Folch i Torres Prize), La nova vida del senyor Rutin (2014 Edebé Prize), and La segona vida del Marc (2018 Gran Angular Prize). Notable amongst his books for adults are La geografia de les veus (2005 Andròmina Prize), El meu cor cap a tu sempre (2009 Marià Vayreda Prize), Setembre a Perugia (2011 Roc Boronat Prize), Melissa i Nicole (2017 Prudenci Bertrana Prize), Les amistats traïdes (2019 Sant Jordi Prize) and the essay És trist morir sense hereus, an affirmative literary journey in which he expresses his commitment to the Catalan heritage.

He has translated into Catalan books from the best-selling “Geronimo Stilton” collection as well as from other acclaimed collections including “Bat Pat” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”.

He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
