Carme Pagès

English

Carme Pagès (Figueres, 1948) has a degree in Catalan Philology for which she spent two years studying at the University of Girona and then, for health reasons, transferred to the Open University of Catalonia (2011). She has also trained in a wide range of other areas, including teaching, editing, poetry, Catalan history, and accounting, and has worked as an editor and Catalan teacher.

Her most intense forms of self-expression are poetry and the literary essay. In her own words, “I love the truth, which I believe is an essential virtue for living nobly and with a level of peace that can open our conscience, since truth comes to find us by itself, as happens in love, friendship, illness, and death… Poetry tends to be an intimate truth that blooms from silence and, sometimes, hidden behind symbols and metaphors.”

She is an honorary member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
