Teresa Pascual

Teresa Pascual was born in Grau de Gandia in 1952 and is a poet and translator.

She studied Philosophy at the University of Valencia and teaches in a secondary school in Gandia. She made her debut as a poet with the collection Flexo (winner of the 1987 Senyoriu d'Ausiàs March Prize), which was published in 1988, the year in which she won the Vicent Andrés Estellés Prize for Les hores. Some years later, she wrote Arena (1992), Curriculum Vitae (1996) and, with El temps en ordre (2002), she received the "Serra d'Or" Critics' Prize for Poetry in 2003. She continued with the books of poems Rebel·lió de la sal (2008), awarded the Crítica Catalana and Crítica dels Escriptors Valencians ex aequo prizes, Herències (2011), written with Àngels Gregori, awarded the Manel Garcia Grau poetry Prize from the University Jaume I, and València Nord (2014). Among the anthologies in which her poems have appeared are Camp de mines. Poesia catalana del País València, 1980-1990 (Minefield. Catalan Poetry from the Valencia Region, 1980-1990, València, 1991) and Trenta poetes catalanes del segle XX (Thirty Twentieth-Century Catalan Women Poets, Barcelona, 1999).

She has translated from the German (with Karin Shepers) Hans Magnus Enzensberger's The Sinking of the Titanic (L'enfonsament del Titànic, València, 1993) and also the complete poetic works of Ingeborg Bachmann (Poesia completa, València, 1995).

Pascual is a member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC, Association of Catalan Language Writers).

Since 2021 she is vice-president from País València of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana.
