Francesc Moll i Marquès (Palma, 1937), a publisher, translator, and director of the publishing house Editorial Moll, has a degree in Economics and was director of the daily Diari de Mallorca from 1963 to 1967. Since 1967 he has been director of Editorial Moll, initially working with his father Francesc de Borja Moll, who founded the enterprise. Between 1993 and 2000 he was president of the Balearic Islands Publishers Guild and he has also been a board member of the Mallorca Booksellers Guild. He has translated Marcel Durliat’s L’Art dans le royaume de Majorque (L’Art en el regne de Mallorca, 1964), and Edgar Allison Peers’ Fool of Love: The Life of Ramon Llull (Foll d’amor. La vida de Ramon Llull, 1966). He is a co-founding member of the Balearic Group for Ornithology and Defence of Nature, and was its president from 1978 to 1981. In 1978, he was Director General for the Environment in the Inter-Islands Council Department of Land Management. In 2001 he received the Lluís Carulla Foundation Civic Contribution Award in recognition of his career of civic service.
