Marta Giné Janer

English

Marta Giné Janer (Barcelona, 1958) is a philologist, translator, and writer. As a student of literature, her areas of study are French writers of the nineteenth century (among them, Villiers de l’Isle-Adam, Gautier, Musset, and Maupassant), literary translation from French, and comparative literature.

Notable among her translated works is her translation into French of the poems of Màrius Torres.

Much of the power of Giné Janer’s literary work probably comes from her main work as a researcher and translator in the genres of poetry and short story. In particular, she writes from the perspective of female intimacy.

She is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers – AELC).
