Teresa Duch Dolcet

English

Teresa Duch Dolcet (Vimbodí, Conca de Barberà, 1956), a fiction writer, blogger and columnist, presently lives in Tarragona.

Her literary vocation first emerged in 2005 when she enrolled at the Tarragona School of Letters. In fact, she has always felt happy with a biro in her hand. When she was young she wrote letters, stories to tell, little plays to perform, and travel tales alternated with photographs of her trips. As an adolescent she wrote poems, but only for herself. Finally, after starting at the School of Letters, she tended towards fiction.

Her inspiration has different wellsprings: childhood, rural life, love of the land, as well as her own experiences, and things that happen around her. Agitation about a theme is often the main motivation for talking about it. She frequently uses irony and social criticism. She has published short stories and crime novels but does not label herself as being a writer of any specific genre because, when engaged in literature, what most attracts her is the freedom of being able to write about any subject at any time.

She is grateful for the literary prizes she has been awarded, and also for criticism of her work since she believes that this is an important tool for completing and improving the process of writing.

She has an online blog, Salsa-ficció, in which she gives a fortnightly account of her way of seeing the world and the things that happen in it. She also writes a fortnightly opinion piece for a Tarragona weekly Notícies TGN.

Since 2016 she has been a featured author at the Joan Martorell Coca Library in Roda de Berà.

She is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
