Marta Pera Cucurell (Mataró, 1959) is a translator, writer, and teacher. In in her career of more than thirty years working with English and German, she has translated approximately one hundred works, some by such great writers as Virgina Woolf, Henry James, Sylvia Plath, Joseph Conrad, William Faulkner, and Franz Kafka. Her work has been recognised by several awards including the 2014 Jordi Domènech Prize for Poetry Translation for her translation of Charles Simic’s poems in Mestre de disfresses (2014), the Ictineu Prize for Best Translated Novel, for her translation of The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta (2015), and the Other Literatures Llibreter Prize for her translation into Catalan—Les formes del verb anar (2019)—of Jenny Erpenbeck’s Go, Went, Gone.

Besides literary translation, she also works in the audiovisual domain translating films, documentaries, and series, as well as teaching Catalan. She is also author of the book La quinta essència de la pols, her first work of poetry which was awarded the 2018 Recvll Prize.

She is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
