Carles Decors (Barcelona, 1954) became known as a writer when he won the Documenta Prize in 1983 for his F.M.: Fragmentació Modulada (Edicions 62, 1984). He has also published the poetry collection Cicle d’acumulació (Publicacions El Cingle-Edicions de la Federació d’Entitats del País Valencià, 1985); a collection of short stories, El forat de l’agulla (Quaderns Crema,1996); and the novels Al sud de Santa Isabel (Quaderns Crema,1999), which is translated into Spanish with the title Al sur de Santa Isabel (Alianza Editorial, 2002); Aquell món idíl·lic (Edicions 62, 2007); El soroll del petit rèptil (Edicions 62, 2009), which received a grant from the Institution of Catalan Letters in 2006; and El malson de Guinea (Pagès Editors, 2018). The latter work concludes his cycle of novels on life in the Spanish colonies of the Gulf of Guinea and the tragic consequences of the process of decolonisation.

He has been a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan language Writers) since 1984.
