Antònia Carré-Pons

English

Antònia Carré-Pons (Terrassa, 1960) is a writer and mediaevalist philologist.

"Personality is complex and our ego sometimes hides multiple, more or les unconscious manifestations. This is why I think that a lot of people have something akin to heteronyms", she says.

Her public life as a writer began at the turn of this century with the publication of the novel for young people titled I què faràs ara, Clara? (And What Are You Going to Do Now, Clara?), which was published in 2001. In 2005 her Abecedari ignot (Unknown ABC) appeared, this being a collection of prose poems showing a very different facet of the author's creative voice. In 2010 she published Jo també vull ser funcionari (I Want to Be a Functionary Too), a satirical novel that opens up the way to a new literary genre. In 2014 she published the novel Rellotges en temps de pluja, in 2015, És l'amor que mou el cel i les estrelles, a historical novel, and in 2016, L'aspiradora de Ramon Llull, a novel about Llull, planned obsolescence and couple relationships. In 2018 she published the book of short stories Com s'esbrava la mala llet.

"The really important things slip past us in silence and there are no discoveries that do not come from within."

Carré-Pons is a member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
