Maria Antònia Massanet

Maria Antònia Massanet Mayol (Artà, 1980) is a poet and teacher of Language and Literature.

With a degree in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature from the University of Barcelona, and a master’s degree in Gender Studies, she made her debut as a writer with the poetry collection Disseccions emocionals, winner of the 2006 Art Jove Prize for Catalan Poetry. Since then, she has published el moll de l’os, illustrated by Marijó Ribas (2012), batec (2014), Kiribati (2015), Aus de ramat (2019), and Tremor (2024). She has also edited two anthologies, Amb accent a la neutra (with Aina Riera, 2014), and Flamarades sortiran: antologia de poesia catalana feminista (2023). Her poems have appeared in some thirty anthologies and works translated into several languages.

She promotes poetic activism, organising and participating in recitals and festivals like La Createca Poetry Cycle, the PoésArt (of which she is director), the Aparador de poesia of l’Espai Mallorca, the Iroom Espai Polivalent, and the Sant Cugat National Poetry Festival. She writes for several magazines, among them Caràcters, Poetari, and Serra d’Or. She is currently a board member of the Sant Cugat del Vallès Gabriel Ferrater Association, and edits the “Cartografies poètiques” section of the Artà-based magazine Bellpuig, as well as the literary criticism section of the magazine Quadern de les Idees, les Arts i les Lletres.

She is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers – AELC), and also a board member (2017) and secretary (2017-2019).
